Czocha Castle is located in the town of Sucha (Lower Silesia Province) and dates back to the full Middle Ages. It is certain that the ruler responsible for its construction was the Czech king Wacław I of the Přemyslid family, and the castle itself was erected in the years 1241-1247 as an important stronghold guarding the north-eastern border of Bohemia. In the fourteenth century, it was within the borders of Fr. ¦widnica-Jaworski - the only one of the numerous Silesian principalities which were then friendly and politically close to Poland, but a century later it returned to the borders of the Czech state. For a large part of the modern era, it belonged to the noble family of von Nostitz. At the beginning of the 20th century, Czocha Castle became the property of the German industrialist Ernst Gutschow, who also commissioned its renovation in accordance with the state of 1703. In the course of World War II, the castle avoided serious damage, and in 1952 it was transformed into a Military Holiday Home, as a secret facility. After 1989, it was transformed into a hotel and conference facility. At present, the owner of Czocha Castle is AMW Hotele sp. Z oo, which in turn belongs to the Military Property Agency.
