After a life divided between victories in races and hard fishing work, the Bluenose met its fate in 1946 by running aground on a reef in Tahiti. The Bluenose II is a faithful replica of the original built in 1964 serving as ambassador, symbol and tourist attraction in the town of Lunenburg, and still sailing today.
