Saint Martin and Prokop church is located in Central Bohemia, west of Prague, in Karlík village. This area was inhabited already in the Bronze Age, proofs of burials from those times were found in the church´s area.
In 12th century, during Přemysl Otakar I. reign, a Roman rotunda was built here. It was called St. Martin Rotunda. The oldest part of the graveyard is located by the southern wall of the churchyard. Today, you can find here a memorial sign made of marble and devoted to the local warden Augustin Svoboda. In 17th century, the church was repeatedly ruined by Swedish troops during The Thirty Year´s War. In 18th century, major repairs were made – a Baroque tower was built in the southern part, later a Baroque nave, new organs and altar were built. In 1807-1810, more repairs were done and the ceiling and altar were repainted. At the end of 19th century, the church was rebuilt in Pseudo-Roman style. In 20th century, more repairs of the church and its surrounding graveyard were made.
The church was built as a single-nave, oblong Pseudo-Roman church with a Baroque tower in its southern part. The tower was enhanced during the renovations. The original rotunda with a lantern and an apse serves as a presbytery now. The ceiling is flat, the vestry has a ceiling with crossed arches. There is a painting of St. Martin on the altar and two bells in the tower.
