The Dodge M42 is an American off-road light truck and Command Car from the Cold War period. The car was 4.83 meters long and 2.11 meters wide. The curb weight of the vehicle oscillated around 2,600 kilograms. The drive was provided by a single Dodge T-245 engine with a capacity of 78 HP, which allowed to accelerate to approx. 90 km / h. The Dodge M42 was developed on the basis of the M37, which in turn was a successful development of the Dodge WC series of light all-terrain vehicles from the World War II period. The first M37s entered the line during the Korean War (1950-1953). The M42 model was not produced as a separate model from the factory, while Dodge produced special kits enabling the field adaptation of the serial M37 to the M42 standard. After the conversion, the M42 differed from its predecessor with a fully built-up space at the back of the car, in which there was a table for unfolding maps, a much stronger electrical installation, a different shape of windows in the driver's cabin door or richer communication equipment. M42 vehicles took part, for example, in the Korean War of 1950-1953 or the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975).
